Accuracy and diagnostic approach of combining multiple modalities for diagnosing appendicitis among non-pregnant female of reproductive age

Background: Appendicitis is notorious in its ability to simulate other conditions and the frequency, it can be mimicked by pathologies. The purpose of this study was evaluate accuracy diagnostic approach incorporating modified Alvarado score system (MASS) ultrasonography with clinical findings. aim observe different modalities determining appendicitis among non-pregnant female population reproductive ageMethods: This prospective descriptive conducted at department surgery, Rajshahi College Hospital, Rajshahi, Bangladesh. duration 6 months, from February 2013 July 2013. a total 101 women who were age, presenting right lower quadrant pain, went through appendicectomy during period.Results: incidence negative 4.95% study. Most patients having second third decades mean age 24.79±10.11 years. rate perforation our 5.94%. overall post-operative complication 13.86% minor wound infection being most common complication. accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, PPV NPV 95.05%, 98.96%, 20.00%, 95.96% 50.00% respectively. sensitivity specificity ultrasound found 29.47%, 25.56% 100% respectively.Conclusions: Combined use diagnosis led significant reduction rate.
